About the role
The Platform Services team within the Vantage Core – Platform Software organization builds core cloud platform services that power provisioning, lifecycle management, and runtime operations of Teradata compute infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. The team focuses on cloud-native provisioning and lifecycle automation, orchestration, scaling and configuration management, serverless and event-driven automation frameworks, and secure connectivity for cloud-deployed compute systems. This role leads one or more software engineering teams responsible for the development, integration, testing, and fault analysis of these cloud platform services, while setting engineering vision, delivery, and team growth.
What you will do
- Providing and communicating the engineering vision for your team, aligned with the long-term cloud platform strategy.
- Ensuring the timely delivery of committed features.
- Liaising with other engineering teams, project management, and product management, as well as networking, security, and cloud infrastructure teams.
- Mentoring, providing career growth opportunities, satisfying administrative requirements, and maintaining accountability for direct reports.
- Providing engineering leadership in support escalations as needed.
- Partnering with architects and senior technical leaders to drive scalability, reliability, operational efficiency, and developer productivity across the platform.
- Manager of an agile development team responsible for Teradata cloud platform services.
- Collaborates with engineering leadership and project management to set the development priorities of the team.
- Holds direct reports accountable for their individual responsibilities, and is accountable to reports for their career growth.
- Performs various administrative functions related to the management of direct reports, including time sheet approvals, leave approvals, promotion applications, etc.
- Identifies areas for improvement and collaborates with leadership on executing plans for positive change within the organization.

- Proven engineering leadership experience, preferably with direct reports.
- Experience working in a fast-paced agile scrum development environment.
- Proven ability to influence technical decisions across teams and drive engineering alignment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Deep hands-on experience building and operating systems on at least one major public cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong programming expertise in Python or similar languages used for infrastructure and platform engineering.
- Extensive experience designing large-scale cloud-native platforms or distributed infrastructure systems.
- Strong understanding of multi-cloud architecture, cloud networking, IAM, service quotas, and multi-region deployments.
- Experience designing infrastructure automation and provisioning systems using cloud APIs, SDKs, and Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Experience building event-driven or serverless platform architectures.
- Strong experience designing highly scalable distributed systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience designing multi-cloud platforms or cross-cloud infrastructure services.
- Experience building internal developer platforms or shared infrastructure used across large organizations.
- Experience working with Kubernetes-based platforms or container orchestration systems.
- Experience building large-scale provisioning or orchestration systems.
- Experience with Teradata Vantage.
