About the role
Chargebee's Engineering team builds a subscriptions management platform that processes billions of dollars every year. The role is a Lead Software Engineer working with Java, microservices, REST APIs, Spring Boot, and cloud platforms to design scalable billing software. This role leads technical design, mentors engineers, and collaborates cross-functionally to deliver customer-facing features.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable, high-performance, and reliable software solutions that meet the needs of Chargebee's customers.
- Lead technical design discussions and make critical decisions that impact the direction of the company's product roadmap.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and operations, to understand customer needs and deliver high-quality software products and features.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to other software engineers on the team.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest software development trends and technologies and apply them to Chargebee's product development.
- Conceptualize the future of billing, solve real problems for customers, and suggest new ideas and features.
- Recommend new technologies and influence the direction of product development.
- Analyze tasks and plan timelines to deliver features on time.
- Write modular and high-quality code, and strive for continuous improvement.
- Develop and set up automated test cases to ensure stringent quality standards are met.
- Empathize with customers and provide excellent technical support by interacting with them to understand their needs and address their concerns.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- At least 7 years of professional experience building scalable, reliable, and high-performance software applications.
- A proactive attitude and ability to take initiative and get things done.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
- Proficiency in Core Java, Microservices, Rest APIs, and Spring Boot, with knowledge of popular Cloud platforms.
- Ability to write high-quality code and adhere to best practices in engineering, security, and design.
- Focus on automation and experience building CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization and take ownership of releasing new features.
- Experience in integrating with third-party platforms, and working on billing, payments, and/or similar fields is a plus.
