About the role
Barclays is a global bank, and this role is based in Pune within its technology organization. The role designs, develops, and improves software that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues. The Lead Full Stack Engineer will deliver high-quality software using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and modern UI frameworks, lead Agile engineering teams, and collaborate across product and engineering stakeholders.
What you will do
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, experience with React/Angular and modern UI frameworks.
- In‑depth understanding of Kubernetes/OpenShift or similar container platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple Agile engineering teams.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with cloud‑aligned engineering and enterprise integration.
- Exposure to US Payments (ACH, wire flows, processing behaviours, operational nuances).
- Experience working with globally distributed teams.
