About the role
HDFC Bank is seeking a Senior Lead Database Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of its databases. The role focuses on NoSQL databases such as Aerospike, Cassandra, Couchbase, and Redis, along with cloud database services, distributed SQL databases, infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes. The engineer will ensure database performance, security, and integrity while mentoring junior team members and collaborating with other departments.

- Lead the design, development and maintenance of databases
- Ensure the performance, security and integrity of databases
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- Collaborate with other departments to gather requirements and provide solutions
- Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures
- Monitor and optimize database performance
- Identify and resolve database-related issues
- Keep up-to-date with new technologies and industry trends
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Experience of 11-14 years of experience
- S trong knowledge of NoSQL databases like Aerospike, Cassandra, Couchbase, Redis etc.
- Strong understanding of NoSQL data modeling practices.
- Experience with database security, backup and recovery procedures
- Familiarity with Cloud Database service like AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL.
- Experience with new generation distributed SQL databases like YugabyteDB or CockroachDB.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like terraform, ansible, chef etc.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Kubernetes Operator frameworks.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
