About the role
Network Hardware Engineering (NHE) creates hardware platforms central to the AI era, powering Cisco's core Switching, Routing, Wireless, and Industrial products, with innovations in silicon, optics, and hardware platforms such as Silicon One. The team owns full product development from architecture and design through qualification and production. This ECAD role drives design, layout, and routing of industry-leading products, collaborating with hardware, signal integrity, mechanical, thermal, and compliance teams while applying new AI tools to improve design quality and efficiency.
What you will do
- Cisco ECAD Hardware Engineers drive design, layout, and routing of industry-leading products. They collaborate across a broad set of cross-functional teams, including Hardware, Signal integrity, Mechanical, Thermal, and Compliance.
- Participate in creative problem-solving to identify root causes of development issues and implement corrective measures.
- Leverage new AI Tools to enhance design process quality and efficiency
- Leverage effective communication schemes to ensure team and leadership alignment.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering 10+ proven experience, or Masters in Electrical or Computer Engineering + 6 years of related experience, or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering + 3 years of related experience.
- Experience in Computed Automated Design Tools
- Lead cross-functional development efforts to create solutions aligned to requirements and customer needs
- Facilitate communication and creative problem-solving to identify root causes of customer & development issues, categorize failures, and implement corrective measures.
- Hardware design and validation: Hands-on experience with board or system design, schematic and PCB review, prototype bring-up, testing, and hardware debug
- Familiarity with relevant technologies such as Ethernet, PHYs, Switch ASIC operation, and high-speed interfaces.
Preferred qualifications
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring suitability and performance of high-quality components and alignment to project specifications.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Ability to work with firmware, software, signal integrity, manufacturing, and test teams to resolve technical issues and deliver products.
- Product development lifecycle: Experience taking hardware from requirements and design through qualification, manufacturing, and production support.
