About the role

Siemens Energy's gas turbine R&D organization develops technologies to change the world's energy systems, with this role sitting in the mechanical design team for gas turbine rotor and stator construction. The team works on rotating and stationary gas turbine components such as blades, vanes, rotor and casing, covering conceptual solutions through detailed design, implementation and service. This Mechanical Design Engineer will create 3D CAD models, drawings and technical specifications, provide technical support to procurement, external suppliers and global Siemens Energy sites, and manage fault reports from the service department.

What you will do

  • Responsible for designing Gas Turbine rotating & stationary components (e.g. blades & vanes, rotor, casing etc.) to meet full spectrum of design requirements (functionality, robustness, cost effectiveness, manufacturing technology, assembly and service requirements)
  • Supporting and participating in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype mechanical products and assemblies
  • Collaborating with marketing and industrial design teams to develop products that meet technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements
  • May also be involved with designing product specific manufacturing production processes and equipment
  • Development of innovative design solutions. Controlling risk of design changes with appropriate methods like FMEA.
  • Apply appropriate methods which focus on robust design, like tolerance, analysis, standards and design rules.
  • Create, evaluate, review and apply specifications and other technical documents, e.g. design philosophy, purchasing specification, working specification, drawings, BOM, MM, check lists, manufacturing data, standard part calculations and component description.
  • Create/prepare/review 2D and 3D CAD model of individual/assembly NX model of Gas Turbine stationary and Rotating components. Tool experience in NX will be preferred.
  • Exposure & experience in model-based definition or PMI will be preferred
  • Create, understand, review & modify manufacturing/assembly/fabrication drawings of Gas Turbine components. Create/review bill of material, Material Master, inspection specification of GT components as per SIEMENS ENERGY standard practice.
  • Seamless transfer of product definition input and output between CAD modeler and project lead respectively.
  • Document design solutions through 3D CAD models, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Serve as a technical contact for our service department, suppliers, and our workshop.
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop innovative design solutions.
