About the role
The Core Experiences Platforms Org in Bangalore owns the main platforms used to access and interact with core assets such as Workspaces, Notebooks, SQL queries, and the serving infrastructure powering multiple user experiences. The team is redesigning its systems to support Databricks' next stage of growth, building highly available and scalable platforms that run across regions and clouds. As an Engineering Manager, you will hire and develop engineers, set technical standards, and partner with product and engineering leadership on long-term roadmaps and cross-team execution.
What you will do
- You will hire great engineers to build an outstanding team
- You will support engineers in their career development by providing clear feedback, as well developing engineering leaders
- You will ensure high technical standards by instituting processes (architecture reviews, testing) and culture (engineering excellence)
- You will work with engineering and product leadership to build a long-term roadmap
- You will coordinate execution and collaborate with multiple product teams with feature requests from the platform

- Great at hiring and developing talent, especially leadership
- Great at creating efficient processes that increase velocity and quality
- 2+ years of experience in managing teams that build and operate high-volume distributed systems in a SaaS environment
- 5+ years of experience with distributed systems and building platforms and services which serve multiple product teams and customers
- Have experience in scaling engineering teams from 5 to 20+
- Team player that will work with other departments (PM, CS) and engineering teams.
- BS or higher in Computer Science, or a related field
