About the role
Qualcomm's Engineering Group (Software Applications Engineering) provides technical expertise on software systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers on design, development, commercialization, and troubleshooting of Qualcomm products. This role focuses on CPU/GPU performance optimization, spanning system performance analysis, GPU workload analysis, benchmarking, KPI generation, and debugging performance issues in cloud systems. The engineer will also perform architecture analysis to understand product features and their impact on system performance for optimization.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
- 2+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
- 1+ year of experience with debugging techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and/or a closely related field.
- Experience with C and C++ programming, RTOS, OS internals, kernel programming, and UNIX/Win/Linux computing platforms.
- Experience with scripting, utilized for developing customized tools for profiling system performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with background and experience in debugging system performance issues.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies, with flexibility to learn and work in new technology areas.
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility with assignments and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good understanding of software environments and toolchains (specifically GNU toolchains, Git, and Gerrit).
