Qualcomm India Private Limited's Engineering Group within Software Applications Engineering works on next-generation automotive solutions. The team delivers embedded and automotive software spanning platform bring-up, Linux kernel and device driver development, performance optimization, and system stability. This Staff Engineer role drives kernel subsystem and device driver development, resolves complex boot/memory/storage/networking issues, and leads performance and stability initiatives while mentoring engineers.

What you will do

  • Develop and debug Linux kernel subsystems and device drivers for automotive platforms.
  • Analyze and resolve complex system issues involving boot, memory, storage, networking, and performance.
  • Drive CPU, memory, boot-time, and overall system performance improvements.
  • Perform deep root cause analysis using kernel logs, traces, ramdumps, and profiling tools.
  • Lead stability investigations and customer escalations across multiple software domains.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, production-quality software.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical reviews and architecture discussions.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Automotive Linux, Android Automotive, or QNX.
  • Knowledge of device drivers, hypervisor, memory management.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and hypervisor technologies.
  • Experience supporting customer escalations and production issues.
