About the role
Qualcomm's multimedia/camera software engineering group develops Linux kernel drivers and open-source multimedia frameworks (V4L2, Media Controller, libcamera) for camera subsystems on its platforms. This Staff Engineer role owns camera and multimedia features end to end across the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon enablement and bring-up through commercialization. The position acts as a technical lead for architecture and design decisions, mentors a team of 10+ engineers, and works directly with customers on critical issues in the IoT segment.

- Strong hands‑on experience in Linux kernel driver development, with deep understanding of kernel internals and device drivers.
- Proven track record of upstream Linux kernel contributions, including camera and multimedia subsystem upstreaming, Active participation in open source community discussions.
- Solid experience working with open‑source multimedia architectures (V4L2, Media Controller, libcamera, etc.).
- End‑to‑end ownership of features across the full product lifecycle — from pre‑silicon enablement, bring‑up, through commercialization, with camera domain experience strongly preferred.
- Acts as a technical lead, driving architecture and design decisions for complex multimedia systems.
- Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams (10+ engineers team), including task planning, technical guidance, and design reviews.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers, understand requirements, debug critical issues, and drive solutions to closure.
- Experience in IOT segement
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
- 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
