About the role
The Safety Systems Integration team at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd develops and integrates vehicle restraint systems for automotive safety. The role focuses on CAD-based packaging and feasibility analysis of restraint components, airbag and pedestrian impact zone mapping, and engineering documentation for release and homologation. The Engineer will lead DFMEA and design reviews, coordinate with suppliers on DVP activities, and resolve prototype and production build issues while driving cost and weight reduction.
What you will do
- Develop and assess various design proposals from initial concept through to implementation
- Manage comprehensive packaging and feasibility evaluations for restraint system components
- Map vehicle airbag impact zones and pedestrian safety zones accurately using CAD tools
- Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including BoMs, drawings, and gateway clearance documents
- Lead DFMEA and design reviews to identify and mitigate potential risks
- Coordinate with suppliers to facilitate development and design validation activities
- Resolve technical and build-related issues during prototype and production stages
- Implement cost and weight reduction strategies while ensuring compliance with safety regulations
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in automotive safety systems or related engineering
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools, especially CatiaV5 R21
- Strong knowledge of DFMEA, design reviews, and product development gateways
- Experience managing supplier relationships during component development and validation
- Track record of troubleshooting and resolving build and design issues
- Exposure to homologation processes and creation of release documentation
- Demonstrated ability to drive cost and weight optimization programs
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BE/B.Tech) in Mechanical, Automobile, or related fields
- Qualifications or certifications in automotive safety or design methodologies (desirable)
- Proficiency in CAD, especially CatiaV5 R21 or equivalent platforms
- Familiarity with automotive safety regulations and homologation requirements
- Demonstrated teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Exceptional organisational and time-management capabilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
