About the role
Siemens Global Business Services (GBS) is a Siemens service company that provides digital solutions and customer-oriented business services, and the Mobility business executes Metro Signaling and Communication projects across India. This role supports Siemens Mobility project sites with an immediate focus on the Bengaluru Metro fleet addition, covering wayside installation, testing and commissioning, onboard PICO, and static and dynamic trainset testing. The engineer troubleshoots site hardware such as point machines, WRUs, and interlocking interfaces, coordinates with engineering, contractors, and customers, and maintains installation, inspection, and testing documentation.
What you will do
- The Installation Engineer will support execution of Metro Signaling and Communication project activities for Siemens Mobility project sites. The role involves hands-on support for wayside installation, testing and commissioning, troubleshooting of site-related technical issues, and coordination with engineering, installation, testing, commissioning, customer, and project teams. The position is primarily required for the Bengaluru Metro project, while also supporting PAN India Mobility project requirements based on business and site deployment needs.
- Actively support and execute Metro Signaling and Communication installation activities by resolving site-related issues and ensuring smooth delivery of project scope in compliance with project requirements, Siemens quality standards, and customer expectations.
- Provide effective site support for testing and commissioning activities related to wayside signaling and communication systems, including coordination for readiness, issue resolution, and execution follow-up.
- Support onboard PICO activities and static and dynamic testing of trainsets, in addition to regular wayside activities, especially for Bengaluru Metro fleet addition and system-readiness requirements.
- Troubleshoot wayside hardware failures and support technical analysis for equipment such as point machines, WRUs, interlocking interfaces, trackside signaling equipment, and related field hardware.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, installation, testing, commissioning, customer, contractor, and internal project teams to resolve concerns, remove site bottlenecks, and drive project progress efficiently.
- Support installation and readiness activities for wayside systems, onboard systems, telecom interfaces, cabling, termination, equipment installation, inspection, and pre-commissioning requirements as per approved project documents.
- Carry out site checks, quality inspections, and super checks to verify workmanship, material usage, installation compliance, EHS adherence, and readiness for testing/commissioning stages.
- Monitor assigned activities on a regular basis and ensure progress is aligned with project schedule, safety requirements, quality expectations, and customer milestone commitments.
- Prepare and maintain site documentation including installation checklists, inspection records, testing support records, progress updates, issue logs, handover inputs, and technical reports as required by the project.
- Identify site risks, access constraints, material gaps, technical issues, and delay risks at an early stage, and escalate with practical mitigation actions to support smooth project execution.
- Take ownership across multiple technical domains including wayside systems, onboard PICO, static/dynamic train testing, and site signaling and telecommunication activities to improve team flexibility and reduce dependency during critical project phases.

The role also remains applicable for PAN India Mobility project assignments depending on business priorities and site support requirements.
- University degree / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications engineering discipline.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in Metro/Railway Signaling and Communication project execution, preferably in installation, site support, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or train testing support roles.
- Good knowledge of wayside signaling and communication systems, including point machines, WRUs, interlocking interfaces, trackside equipment, cabling, termination, quality installation checks, and site readiness activities.
- Hands-on exposure to testing and commissioning support, onboard PICO activities, and static/dynamic trainset testing will be an added advantage.
- Ability to read and understand approved drawings, installation documents, checklists, test readiness inputs, site instructions, and project-specific quality requirements.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams, contractors, railway authorities, and customers in a site environment.
- Good communication and customer service skills with open-mindedness and constructive approach to assigned tasks.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or project-specific schedules when required during critical site execution or commissioning phases.

- Wayside systems, point machines, WRUs, interlocking interfaces, telecom interfaces, site cabling, termination, and installation readiness.
- Testing and commissioning support for wayside signaling and communication systems.
