About the role
Qualcomm India's Engineering Group (Software Engineering) builds embedded Linux and IoT software for new SoCs, covering the software stack from pre-silicon work through commercialization. The work spans Linux distributions such as Yocto, Ubuntu and Debian, kernel and device drivers, SoC bring-up, and multimedia subsystems. This role leads delivery of large Linux-based IoT projects end-to-end, working with product marketing, business teams, customer engineering teams and debugging intricate system issues with a hands-on approach.
What you will do
- Lead deliver and drive large IOT projects based on Linux
- Work with large, diversified engineering teams, product marketing, business teams and Customer Engineering teams.
- Responsible for life cycle of the project end-to-end right from Software conceptualization to product commercialization with customers
- Working on the execution of Software products for New SoCs from Pre- Silicon till commercialization.
- Hands on approach to understand intricate issues, debug and drive to closure
- Past experience in Linux Distros (Yocto, Ubuntu, Debian) for embedded products
- Hands-on tech experience in Embedded Systems. Proficiency in coding, design and implementation. Coding experience in C/C++, Android/Linux, Drivers/Frameworks, end-to-end software stack
- Strong understanding of system architecture, kernel development, and device drivers.
- Strong exposure to chipset architecture and end-to-end system aspects from software perspective
- Past working experience in one or more of the areas – Multimedia, Linux, Core Platform, Ethernet Protocols, Power/Performance

- Bachelors/Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Strong development experience with C/C++ and good programming skills.
- Strong communication skills and analytics skills
- Proven experience in Linux development, with a strong focus on Yocto, Ubuntu, and Debian distributions.
- Strong hands-on experience on Ubuntu, RedHat like Linux Distros and understanding of Linux related concepts like systemd, SELinux, Snaps, Sandboxing, Container, Docker, etc.
- Strong understanding of Linux kernel and internals.
- Strong understanding of SOC systems and related concepts, including bring-up.
- Good know-how of Multimedia subsystems like Camera, Video, Audio, Display and Graphics.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Strong hands-on experience with troubleshooting software and system issues.
- Strong hands-on experience with full software development life cycle including design, implementation, deployment and support.
- Strong aptitude, quick learner, self-motivated, willing to explore and work across breadth of various technology areas.
- Deductive problem solving, good verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
- 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
