About the role
The DSP Customer Engineering Team at Qualcomm supports Wearable, Mobile, XR, and Auto customer projects with a strong focus on digital signal processing (DSP) development and optimization. The work spans ADSP and HTP across Linux and Windows environments, covering audio use cases, DSP frameworks, algorithm integration, and DSP stability. This role handles DSP customization, issue debugging, algorithm porting, and analysis of audio and voice call performance for customer-reported problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to accelerate resolution.
What you will do
- This role supports DSP customer activities in both ADSP and HTP across Linux and Windows environments. It involves working on DSP customization, debugging issues, and porting algorithms, along with analyzing and improving audio and voice call performance and performing real-time debugging. The role also requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to resolve customer-reported issues effectively.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
- PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
- 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with debugging techniques.
- The position requires 4–7 years of hands-on DSP development experience, including module porting, optimization, and real-time debugging on embedded platforms, along with strong expertise in DSP architectures such as ADSP, CDSP, and Hexagon, and experience with RTOS concepts for real-time audio processing.
- Candidates should have 4–7 years of experience in Android audio framework, DSP debugging, DSP module porting, DSP hardware architecture, DSP power and performance, and DSP hardware interfaces.
- Experience with audio frameworks such as AudioReach, Android Audio HAL, Audio Policy Manager, and Audio Flinger is an added advantage.
- The role also requires experience in DSP assembly coding, scalar optimization, and vector optimizations, along with a background in signal processing algorithms, including filters, echo cancellation, noise suppression, beamforming, and voice enhancement. Experience working on any DSP, including porting and optimization of different algorithms along with real-time debugging, is an added advantage, as is experience with wearables and XR audio stack.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to debug complex DSP/audio issues in real time. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), the ability to work in a team, and customer interaction experience are also required.
