About the role
The compiler team at Qualcomm Innovation Center works on optimizing LLVM for Qualcomm's Hexagon hardware. The team focuses on compiler optimizations, code generation, and architecture-specific improvements for next-generation Qualcomm architectures. This role involves researching, designing, and implementing compiler optimizations to improve runtime and memory characteristics, and collaborating with architecture, hardware, software development, integration, and test teams.
What you will do
- Research, design, and implement different compiler optimizations to improve runtime and memory characteristics of software applications for Qualcomm hardware.
- Analyze software requirements, consult with architecture and HW engineers, and devise compiler solutions for Qualcomm’s next generation architectures.
- Analyze and identify system level integration issues, interface with the software development, integration and test teams.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 2-5 years of academic or industrial experience in the following areas is required:
- Compiler development
- Strong C/C++ programming background
- Bachelor's, Master’s or Ph.D., Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of intermediate representations, machine independent and machine dependent optimizations, code generation and architecture specific optimizations
- Knowledge of the structure and function of compiler internals
- Knowledge of instruction sets and computer architectures: pipeline structure and hazards, cache and memory organization, etc.
- Knowledge or experience in performance analysis, root cause analysis, and profiling tools
