About the role

Qualcomm's Multimedia Audio Systems Group works on the architecture and design of audio system solutions and audio hardware blocks for next-generation Snapdragon platforms across mobile, XR, Compute and IoT applications. The role centers on hardware-aware system design, data-path definition, interface integration, and performance optimization, with analysis of power, performance, latency, memory, precision, and audio quality trade-offs. The engineer will define audio hardware and data paths, support hardware-software interface and low-power design, and validate audio blocks through simulation, emulation, lab measurements, and post-silicon debugging.

What you will do

  • Define and support the design of audio hardware, software, audio data paths, audio codecs and associated processing blocks.
  • Analyze hardware and system trade-offs across power, performance, latency, memory, precision, and audio quality.
  • Work with Architecture, Systems and Software teams to translate product requirements into hardware specifications and implementation requirements.
  • Support hardware-software interface definition, control flows and power-state transitions to design low power solutions
  • Validate Audio blocks and end-to-end audio use cases through simulation, emulation, lab measurements, and post-silicon debugging.
  • Document architecture, design decisions, interface requirements, validation plans, and technical findings.

What the employer is looking for

  • Strong understanding of digital hardware design concepts and audio hardware architectures.
  • Experience with audio hardware, audio blocks such as VAD, digital filters, interpolation, decimation, sample-rate conversion, or related DSP hardware.
  • Good understanding of digital signal-processing fundamentals
  • Experience analyzing hardware constraints and trade-offs involving power, performance, latency, memory, clocking, and precision.
  • Understanding of fixed-point arithmetic, quantization, rounding, saturation, and bit-accurate modelling.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, hardware-software interfaces, and real-time audio data paths on any DSP architecture HiFi/Hexagon/ARM/MCU
  • Programming in C/C++, Python, MATLAB
  • Bachelor's or Master's or PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Communications, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred qualifications

  • Understanding of digital interfaces such as SoundWire and SDCA interfaces is a plus.
  • Familiarity with audio codec design, DAC/ADC signal paths, and low-power design is a plus.
  • Exposure to Qualcomm audio architectures, frameworks, SDKs, or development tools is a plus.

Benefits and support

  • Compensation and benefits are detailed in the job posting
