About the role
Barclays is hiring an Engineer - AI Platform to design, develop and improve software that provides business, platform and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues. The role requires cloud software engineering plus GenAI/LLM and agentic AI work, including LLM APIs, RAG, embeddings, LangGraph/LangChain or Google ADK, and Docker/Kubernetes. Based in Bengaluru and Pune, the engineer will collaborate across product and engineering teams, follow secure coding and unit testing practices, and contribute to technology communities.
What you will do
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Software engineering on cloud (3+ yrs) building applications at scale on AWS/Azure/GCP
- Python (preferred) or Java/Go — REST APIs, async frameworks, clean testable code
- GenAI/LLM hands-on — calling LLM APIs, prompt building, RAG patterns, embeddings
- Agentic AI framework (LangGraph/LangChain or Google ADK) + Docker/Kubernetes basics
Preferred qualifications
- Observability — OpenTelemetry, structured logging, distributed tracing
- OPA/Rego or access control systems
- AI safety concepts — prompt injection risks, PII handling, content filtering
- IaC (CloudFormation/Terraform) and GitOps workflows
