About the role
The Laptops and Tablets (L&T) Platform bring-up team designs and builds the system software, device drivers, and hardware enablement firmware that powers Google's Chromebooks and Googlebooks, enabling secure, reliable, and fast-booting computing experiences. The team works at the intersection of hardware and software, driving open-source initiatives while partnering closely with major SoC and hardware vendors to translate complex silicon capabilities into experiences used by millions globally. This role manages a cross-functional engineering team, leading board bring-ups and collaborating with a global team of software and hardware engineers on new technology proposals and process improvements.
What you will do
- Manage cross-functional team of engineers.
- Participate in board bring-ups and work with partners to deliver new Chromebook and Googlebook devices.
- Collaborate with a global team of software and hardware engineers on new technology proposals and process improvements.
- Evaluate and help improve code and processes for scalability and maintainability.
- Be prepared to discuss your knowledge and use of AI tools during the hiring process. AI fluency is an expectation in this role.
Skills used in this role
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with Linux development environment and git/gerrit tools.
- Experience developing in coreboot, Zephyr OS, or other open-source projects.
- Knowledge of x86/ARM architecture.
