About the role

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd's Farm Division oversees plant store operations, including material receipt, storage, issuance, packaging, disposal, and dispatch. The role uses SAP MM/SD/PP for inventory accuracy, ageing analysis, and asset utilization while managing vendor transactions, COPQ, IUTN dispatch planning, and cross-functional coordination. It also leads a diverse workforce, drives safety and compliance with ISO/OHSAS/SHE standards, and champions sustainability initiatives such as green and returnable packaging.

What you will do

  • As Deputy Manager - Plant Store Operations at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd within the Farm Division, you will take a leadership role in managing comprehensive storage functions. This involves overseeing the end-to-end processes associated with receiving, safe storage, timely issuing, meticulous packaging, preservation, disposal, and dispatch of materials to maintain streamlined operations. You will employ expertise in SAP systems, particularly MM, SD, and PP modules, to drive accurate recording and analysis of inventory metrics including perpetual inventory management and ageing analysis, ensuring effective asset utilization and capital asset management.
  • Your responsibilities extend to diligently managing vendor-related transactions and supplier rejection processes while fostering a robust culture prioritising safety and regulatory compliance at all times. A key part of your role is to monitor and control the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) factors such as scrap, detention, premium freight, underload, and expiry events, implementing cost mitigation strategies without compromising quality or service reliability.
  • Planning and scheduling of Intra-Unit Transfer Notes (IUTN) vehicle movements and dispatch activities will be integral to meeting customer requirements and delivery timelines. You will collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and support teams alongside customer plants to ensure unimpeded process flow and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • You will be responsible for managing a diverse workforce that includes unionised employees, contract staff, and trainees, applying best practices in manpower deployment and fostering continuous improvement to optimise operational efficiency and adherence to quality standards. Revenue spend management forms a critical part of your remit, requiring proactive measures to maintain financial discipline.
  • In line with the company’s commitment to sustainability, you will champion initiatives such as green and returnable packaging strategies, supporting environmental responsibility goals. Compliance with global standards and certifications including ISO, TS, TPM, OHSAS, SHE, and ISO 45001 will be ensured to maintain a safe and compliant working environment. Finally, your leadership will be pivotal in enhancing team capabilities, promoting a safety-first mindset, and integrating industry best practices in asset and inventory management, thereby strengthening supply chain planning and control within the plant’s stores operations.

Additional certifications or coursework in supply chain management, logistics, or enterprise resource planning systems, particularly SAP, will be considered advantageous, reflecting a commitment to continuous professional development aligned with the demands of the role.

  • Proficiency in inventory management techniques such as perpetual inventory tracking and ageing analysis to ensure optimal stock levels and prevent obsolescence or excess holdings.
  • Competence in leveraging enterprise resource planning systems, especially SAP modules MM (Material Management), SD (Sales and Distribution), and PP (Production Planning), to facilitate accurate data capture, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Strong background in controlling Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) elements by identifying causes of scrap, detention delays, premium freight expenses, underload, and expiry to implement corrective corrective measures effectively.
  • Experience leading diverse teams encompassing unionised workforce, contractual employees, and trainees, with a focus on morale, training, compliance, and productivity enhancement.
  • Proven collaboration skills working alongside manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain planning, and customer interfacing teams to align inventory and dispatch schedules with production and delivery requirements.
