About the role
Barclays is hiring a DevOps Engineer in Pune to work on infrastructure and deployment pipelines for its digital solutions. The role focuses on building and managing scalable, secure cloud infrastructure and CI/CD automation using AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and related tooling. The engineer will also contribute to software delivery, secure coding, code quality, and cross-functional collaboration.
What you will do
- To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Proficiency in cloud technologies – AWS, Kubernetes, Docker.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform / Cloud Formation.
- Hands-on experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, Maven.
- Knowledge of Helm charts and GitOps-based deployment models.
- You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef or Ansible.
- Strong scripting and automation skills like Python, Bash or Go.
- Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as ESaaS, Observe, Grafana etc.
- Understanding of building secure, scalable, and reliable platforms in an enterprise environment.
