About the role
Barclays is seeking a Developer to design, develop, and improve software that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues. The role involves building robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure and deployment pipelines, with hands-on work across Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, ReactJS, databases, and container platforms. Based in Pune, the developer will deliver high-quality software, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and adhere to secure coding and unit testing practices.
What you will do
- To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Strong hands-on development experience using Java, Spring Boot and Microservices.
- Experience developing REST APIs and integrating enterprise applications.
- Hands-on experience with ReactJS, JavaScript, Redux, HTML and CSS.
- Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases.
- Knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes container platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with GitLab, SonarQube, Maven/Gradle and Agile development methodologies.
- Good understanding of unit testing, code quality and secure coding principles.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to Kafka, IBM MQ or event-driven architectures.
- Banking or Financial Services domain experience.
- Exposure to Wiz, Prisma and security tooling.
- Knowledge of performance optimization and application troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting production releases and operational activities.
- Exposure to monitoring tools such as Grafana and Kibana.
