About the role

IBM's Marketing, Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility (MCC) team defines and optimizes IBM's brand and positions the company in the market for clients, partners, media, and IBMers. The Marketing Data Science and analytics team builds the intelligence that powers and orchestrates performance across tactics and buyer groups, spanning audience targeting, paid media, web demand capture, lead management, and sales analytics. This intern role works on scalable analytical solutions, large and complex data sets, dashboards and reports, and presents data-driven optimization recommendations to marketing groups and IBM leadership.

What you will do

  • Develop scalable analytical solutions that provide data-driven and optimization insights
  • Work with large, complex data sets and extract knowledge or insights to solve complex, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed
  • Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, model building, industry research, ongoing deliverables, and presentations
  • Develop, design and present data-driven optimization recommendations via dashboards, reports, and analyses
  • Communicate insights to team members, other marketing groups, and IBM leadership.

What the employer is looking for

  • Currently pursuing a post graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, data science, computer science, applied mathematics / statistics, mathematical computing, operations research) or currently pursuing MBA/M.Tech having undergraduate degree in quantitative disciplines as mentioned above
  • Experience using technology to work with datasets such as Scripting, Python, Statistical software (SPSS, SAS, R, or similar)
  • Data Visualization Tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc)
  • Fluent in English; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with large data sets and applying data mining / predictive modelling techniques to extract meaningful insights
  • Basic knowledge of marketing or related field
  • Passion for advancements in Data Science and Predictive Analytics
  • A strategic, consultative, data-driven mindset
