About the role
Barclays is building a new strategic market data platform for the bank, and the role sits within its data engineering function. The team builds and maintains data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes using AWS, Python, Snowflake, and related data tools. The Data Engineering Lead will design data architectures, develop processing and analysis algorithms, and collaborate with data scientists to deploy machine learning models.
What you will do
- Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
- Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
- Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
- Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- AWS cloud services such as S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, CloudFormation etc.
- Python language on senior level for data engineering and automation purposes
- Snowflake, ETL frameworks, data transformation and data quality tools
- You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
Preferred qualifications
- AWS Data Engineer certification
- Previous working experience within banking or financial services domain
- Experience with IAM and Permissions management in AWS cloud
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Starburst, Iceberg
