About the role
This role sits within Bosch's data solutions and consulting practice supporting manufacturing operations, supply chain, and plant logistics. The work focuses on Oracle-based data modeling and engineering — logical/physical and dimensional models, PL/SQL development, and data integration between ERP, WMS/MES, and downstream repositories. The Data Consultant will design and roll out data models and data exchange pipelines, tune database performance, and work directly with logistics business teams to translate operational workflows into data structures.
What you will do
- Data Modeling & Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain logical and physical data models, dimensional schemas (star/snowflake), and data vault structures using Oracle Data Modeler or equivalent tools.
- Implementation Projects: Actively contribute to and execute end-to-end data modeling and engineering implementation and rollout lifecycles for business-critical operational applications.
- Database Programming & Customization: Develop and maintain stored procedures, packages, functions, and triggers in Oracle PL/SQL tailored to business requirements and operational logic.
- Data Integration & Exchange: Design and implement robust data interface and delta-capture mechanisms, ETL routines, and automated file exchange processes (SFTP/FTP) between ERP, WMS/MES, and downstream data repositories.
- Performance Tuning & Debugging: Perform query optimization, indexing strategies, debugging, and execution-plan tuning to ensure high performance and data accuracy.
- Data Movement & Utilities: Leverage database utilities such as SQL*Loader, Data Pump, and export/import tools for initial loads, migrations, and regular feeds.
- Stakeholder Consulting: Work closely with cross-functional logistics teams and business analysts to gather requirements, establish data dictionaries, and validate business rules.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data modeling, engineering and database development, including participation in at least 1–2 implementation projects.
- Data Modeling Paradigms: Strong conceptual and practical knowledge of dimensional, logical, and physical data modeling; understanding of Data Vault architecture is a strong plus.
- Practical proficiency with Oracle Data Modeler or equivalent modeling tools
- Oracle & SQL Development: Strong hands-on proficiency in SQL and advanced PL/SQL (stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers).
- Strong RDBMS fundamentals, schema design, and constraints management.
- Solid working knowledge of SQL*Loader, Data Pump, and data movement utilities.
- Proven debugging techniques and query/performance tuning methodologies.
- Integration & Automation: Experience building data interfaces, ETL workflows, SFTP/FTP data transfer mechanisms, and basic automation scripting.
- Domain Knowledge (Preferred): Working knowledge or exposure to manufacturing logistics, plant supply chain, inventory movement, or warehousing (WMS/ERP interfaces).
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical data designs to business and functional teams.
- B.E. / B.Tech / MCA / M.Sc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Preferred qualifications
- Databricks, Oracle APEX, PowerBI
Benefits and support
