About the role
Akamai Legal is a global team of approximately 70 professionals that advances business interests and supports the company's next phase of growth, protecting Akamai's assets and reputation while navigating evolving legal landscapes. The role sits within this team and partners with the Legal and Sales organizations, working with commercial teams on a global scale. As a Counsel, you will draft, review, and negotiate English commercial contracts, advise cross-functional stakeholders on legal risks, and support compliance with Akamai's legal and business policies.
What you will do
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating English commercial contracts and documents with Akamai's global customers and partners, supporting commercial teams worldwide.
- Advising cross-functional teams across Sales, Finance, Tax, Compliance, Information Security, and Product Management on legal risks in commercial sales contracts.
- Ensuring compliance with and consistent application of Akamai's legal and business policies and practices.
- Participating in efforts to enhance the legal department's overall performance
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Hold a law degree from an accredited institution, be licensed in a relevant jurisdiction, and maintain good standing as an attorney.
- Bring 3+ years of legal experience supporting Sales teams in private practice or in-house, ideally with technology or telecommunications clients.
- Demonstrate excellent project and time management, sound business judgment, effective prioritization, and reliable follow-through in dynamic, multi-project environments.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of commercial law, intellectual property rights, and privacy and data protection;
- Communicate fluently in English, draft contracts clearly and concisely, and conduct legal negotiations by phone or video.
- Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
