About the role
Cisco's Enterprise AI team is the core group enabling Generative AI powered experiences across Cisco, building secure, scalable AI platforms that let teams safely develop, deploy, and operationalize AI-powered solutions. The team works at the intersection of applied AI, cloud infrastructure, and security, partnering across engineering, security, compliance, and product teams. This Senior SRE role in the India hub tackles complex networking and service mesh challenges across a global footprint, using expertise in Anthos and Istio to maintain the high-availability platform powering Cisco's advanced AI initiatives.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain Terraform scripts to provision and manage scalable GCP and On-premise Kubernetes resources and Docker containers.
- Configure and optimize Anthos Service Mesh (ASM) and Istio for service-to-service communication, security, and observability.
- Implement and audit IAM roles and GCP Quotas, ensuring the environment is "Secure by Design" with robust encryption and secrets updates.
- Build and leverage observability dashboards using Elasticsearch and Kibana to monitor system health and provide proactive alerts on performance and cost.
- Execute capacity planning and scaling for new feature rollouts, ensuring the environment stays within defined cost envelopes and security standards.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud/On-prem Operations or DevOps.
- Strong proficiency in Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Extensive experience with IAM implementation, GCP Quota management, and Anthos Service Mesh (ASM)/Istio.
- Proven experience with Apigee and the ELK stack.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Jenkins, Spinnaker, and GitHub for automated delivery.
- Proven ability to manage hybrid traffic between cloud and on-premise platforms.
- Strong analytical skills for cost envelope management and capacity planning.
- Advanced proficiency with cloud provider CLIs and automation scripting.
