About the role
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform used by millions of companies to accept payments, grow revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. The Product Accounting team supports products across Stripe by providing guidance on accounting implications and recording business transactions accurately in the balance sheet and income statement. This role focuses on products developed by Stripe's Bridge subsidiary, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close results and building scalable accounting solutions while partnering with cross-functional and international teams.
What you will do
- Plan and perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, analytic reviews, and financial reporting deliverables for Bridge products
- Identify, recommend and implement scalable accounting processes to support global growth at Bridge
- Partner with our business and finance teams to understand new products, features, and contracts, and advise on accounting implications
- Partner with Internal Systems and Engineering teams to improve financial systems and automate accounting processes
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and design processes and controls for emerging business activities
- Understand data and system flows, analyzing financial results to identify and address anomalies.
- Support external audit processes
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 7+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional accountancy qualification, such as CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and experience with internal controls
- Experience with monthly or quarterly close processes, journal-entry preparation and posting, audits, regulatory reporting, financial-statement preparation, and accounting systems
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences
- Ability to structure ambiguous work and build systems and automation
- Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in the technology or payments industry
- Experience accounting for cryptocurrencies, including stablecoins
- Experience with Oracle Suite
- Experience with data-querying and analysis tools, including SQL
