About the role
This role supports the Battery Pack manufacturing operations at Mahindra's Zaheerabad plant, focused on keeping Battery Shop equipment such as KUKA robots, slat conveyors, testing machines, nitrogen generators, AHUs and sealant dispensing systems running reliably. The maintenance function covers automation and controls — Siemens PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, servo motors and vision systems — alongside pneumatic and hydraulic systems and spare-parts inventory. The engineer will execute preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns independently, perform PLC/HMI programming and robot teaching, and drive reliability improvement through Kaizen, TPM and MTTR/MTBF improvement initiatives.
What you will do
- Monitor and ensure timely execution of Preventive, Predictive, and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) activities to improve equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Battery Shop equipment including KUKA Robots, Slat Conveyors, Testing Machines, Nitrogen Generators, AHUs, Sealant Dispensing Systems, Servo Motors, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems .
- Possess strong knowledge of electrical layouts, control panels, wiring diagrams, and equipment components.
- Handle equipment hardware, software, parameter loading, programming, and system restoration activities.
- Demonstrate expertise in Siemens PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, Vision Systems, VFDs, Servo Motors, and Wireless Communication Systems .
- Perform PLC programming, HMI configuration, I/O module configuration, robot teaching, and system integration activities.
- Independently diagnose and resolve equipment breakdowns through effective troubleshooting.
- Maintain systematic backups of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, robots, and PC-based machines.
- Monitor and maintain insurance and consumable spare inventories while ensuring timely availability of critical spares.
- Improve MTTR and MTBF through proactive Kaizen and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Optimize spare consumption and reduce maintenance costs through systematic planning and control.
- Drive continuous improvement in maintenance effectiveness through PM, TBM, and CBM initiatives.
- Ensure equipment safety by monitoring safety interlocks and implementing suitable Poka-Yoke mechanisms.
- Support uninterrupted production through efficient maintenance planning and execution.
Skills used in this role

- Education Qualification: BTech Electrical/Electronics
- General Experience: B.Tech - 3 - 6 years. Diploma - 7 - 10 years
- Critical Experience: Automation - preferably siemens
- Robo operation and maintenance – preferably KUKA
- Servo Drives maintenance.
- Sealant dispensers - Maintenance
- Air handling units, Nitrogen generator - maintenance
- Basic knowledge of Pneumatics and hydraulics
- Basic knowledge of battery manufacturing process
