About the role
Barclays is a global financial services organisation whose technology teams build and support the platforms behind its banking products and services. This role sits within that technology function in Pune, focused on managing robust, scalable and secure AWS infrastructure and deployment pipelines. The position combines application support with software engineering accountabilities, including CI/CD, incident and change management, automation, and secure coding practices.
What you will do
- To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, DynamoDB, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch, and API gateway.
- Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, log aggregation tools (e.g., CloudWatch Logs, ELK), and Infrastructure-as-Code (CloudFormation).
- Solid understanding of ITIL practices for incident, change, and problem management in banking or financial environments.
Preferred qualifications
- Openshift and container based platform
- Scripting skills (Python/Java preferred) for operational automation
