About the role
Bosch's automotive embedded software group develops and integrates AUTOSAR base software (BSW) for microcontroller-based ECUs and VCUs. The work covers BSW configuration and integration, multicore CPU resource optimization, runtime-trace-based performance analysis, and quality/defect management across the OS, hardware, build chain, and application layers. This role leads BSW solution development, defines technical and architecture concepts, drives validation and root-cause analysis, and mentors engineers across projects and locations.
What you will do
- BSW Solution Development and Integration
- Lead the development, configuration, and integration of BSW components.
- Define technical solutions for BSW and ECU software.
- Perform BSW integration, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Support build, compilation, release, and continuous-integration activities for BSW deliveries.
- Contribute to reusable BSW frameworks and architecture evolution.
- Independently own work packages, including effort planning, risks, dependencies, and technical execution.
- Multicore and CPU Resource Optimization
- Develop solutions for optimal multicore software considering dynamic runtime behaviour in microcontroller-based ECUs and VCUs.
- Analyse CPU utilization, task execution, interrupts, synchronization, and runtime traces to identify performance bottlenecks.
- Derive optimization approaches for CPU resource utilization on multicore controllers.
- Define dynamic architecture concepts covering ECU start-up and shutdown, task distribution, task and ISR priorities, interrupt handling, and lock clearance.
- Translate performance findings and runtime behaviour into practical engineering recommendations and implementable solutions.
- Architecture and Technical Leadership
- Translate functional and non-functional requirements into technical concepts, architecture proposals, and implementation plans.
- Connect OS, hardware, build chain, BSW, and application behaviour when analysing cross-layer issues.
- Influence architecture and design decisions through data-based technical recommendations.
- Review software design and integration quality and resolve complex technical issues spanning multiple layers.
- Lead technical reviews, feasibility studies, demonstrations, and solution discussions.
- Quality and Defect Management
- Lead defect analysis, root-cause analysis, and implementation of permanent corrective actions.
- Convert runtime traces, symptoms, and test observations into identified root causes and concrete corrective measures.
- Define acceptance criteria, test strategies, quality gates, and validation approaches.
- Support unit testing, integration testing, technical audits, and project-specific quality requirements.
- Ensure that solutions are maintainable, reusable, and aligned with applicable development processes.
- Collaboration, Coaching, and Knowledge Sharing
- Act as the technical interface to platform, architecture, development, test, project, and customer teams.
- Collaborate effectively across projects, locations, and organizational boundaries.
- Mentor engineers and provide guidance on BSW, multicore, debugging, and CPU resource-management topics.
- Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions for project teams.
- Build technical alignment through expertise and influence, without relying on formal authority.
- Prepare and maintain clear technical concepts, analysis reports, decisions, and engineering documentation.

- Hands-on experience in Embedded C and automotive ECU software development.
- Practical experience with BSW development and HiL/SiL, vECU, or comparable development and validation environments.
- Deep knowledge of multicore concepts and CPU resource management.
- Working knowledge of RTOS concepts, microcontrollers, peripherals, task scheduling, interrupts, and synchronization.
- Good understanding of compilers, linkers, memory layout, build chains, and associated development workflows.
- Strong debugging and root-cause-analysis skills.
- Experience analysing runtime behaviour and deriving practical performance-optimization measures.
- Ability to independently plan, coordinate, and deliver technical work packages across multiple teams.
- Strong technical communication skills for reviews, solution discussions, and multilocation collaborat
