About the role

The Enterprise Technology Services organization at American Express partners with every part of the business to power growth and innovation, owning technology engineering, architecture, infrastructure, enterprise platforms, data governance, digital product and design, and enterprise AI platforms, with 24x7 support for customers and colleagues. The team provides technology delivery leadership that turns complex enterprise priorities into execution by connecting strategy, teams, dependencies, and governance to deliver measurable business outcomes. The Associate, Delivery Management supports execution of complex cross-functional technology initiatives across Project Diamond and Customer Trust, maintaining plans, surfacing risks and dependencies, driving follow-through on commitments, and using AI-enabled tools and automation to improve delivery management, reporting, and documentation.

What you will do

  • Support day-to-day execution of technology initiatives across Project Diamond and Customer Trust, from planning through implementation.
  • Develop and maintain integrated delivery plans, milestones, commitments, dependencies, and critical dates across multiple teams and workstreams.
  • Track work through key delivery stages and maintain a clear view of what is complete, what remains, and what is required to reach the next milestone.
  • Identify deviations from plan early, understand the underlying cause and delivery impact, and drive appropriate follow-up with accountable owners.
  • Coordinate cross-team activities required to resolve blockers, close dependencies, and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Support implementation readiness, including tracking required testing, approvals, sign-offs, deployment dependencies, contingency plans, and other exit criteria.
  • Support change management when scope, timing, dependencies, or delivery assumptions change.
  • Maintain clear visibility into risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and actions across assigned initiatives.
  • Go beyond documenting blockers by helping establish the path to resolution: what needs to happen, who owns it, by when, and when escalation is required.
  • Identify upstream and downstream dependencies across applications, platforms, teams, and initiatives and assess their impact on delivery plans.
  • Track open decisions and ensure unresolved items are surfaced to the appropriate decision-makers with the context needed to act.
  • Escalate material risks and issues early, with a clear articulation of impact, actions underway, and leadership support required.
  • Drive actions and commitments through closure and ensure outcomes are reflected in the overall delivery plan.
  • Facilitate working sessions, checkpoints, and governance forums focused on execution, decisions, risks, dependencies, and next steps.
  • Prepare concise, fact-based status updates that clearly communicate what changed, what is at risk, the path forward, and where leadership intervention is required.
  • Maintain accurate program-level reporting across milestones, delivery health, risks, dependencies, and commitments.
  • Support Program Increment (PI) planning and PI closeout, including scope, commitments, carryover, dependencies, delivery forecasts, and outcomes.
  • Help ensure governance forums are decision- and action-oriented rather than primarily status-reporting exercises.
  • Partner closely with Technology, Product, Business, and other delivery teams to understand execution plans and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Participate in technical discussions involving APIs, application integrations, data flows, environments, testing, deployment, and system dependencies.
  • Develop sufficient technical understanding to ask effective questions, identify delivery implications, and recognize when additional technical expertise or escalation is needed.
  • Translate technical discussions into clear business and delivery terms, including decisions, actions, risks, dependencies, owners, and timing.
  • Connect related issues across teams and workstreams to help identify potential downstream impacts before they affect delivery.
  • Use AI-enabled tools to improve project tracking, meeting synthesis, status reporting, risk and action management, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, completeness, appropriate context, and alignment with source information before use.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive delivery-management activities and improve the timeliness and consistency of program information.
  • Help establish practical, responsible ways to incorporate AI into day-to-day delivery-management workflows.
