About the role
Northstar Analytics' CFO Office & Fractional CFO Services team works closely with clients across financial planning, performance management, business finance, and CFO advisory. The team delivers budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, management reporting, and finance process improvement to client finance teams and leadership. This Associate role supports clients on FP&A, management reporting, CFO advisory, financial strategy, controls and processes, and direct client engagement.
What you will do
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, cash flow planning, and variance analysis to help clients monitor financial performance
- Management Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports, MIS, dashboards, and business performance reviews for senior management and client leadership
- CFO Advisory: Assist clients with financial planning, profitability analysis, working capital management, cost optimisation, and business decision-making
- Business Performance: Analyse revenue, costs, margins, and key financial metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Financial Strategy: Support business plans, growth initiatives, scenario analysis, and financial assessments to facilitate informed management decisions
- Financial Controls & Processes: Identify gaps in financial processes, reporting mechanisms, and internal controls, and recommend practical improvements
- Client Engagement: Work directly with client finance teams and leadership, understand business requirements, and deliver high-quality financial insights and recommendations
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of financial analysis, reports, and advisory assignments
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 3+ years of experience in FP&A, business finance, financial advisory, CFO office, or a related finance role
- Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret financial data and derive business insights
- Good understanding of business drivers, profitability, cash flows, and financial performance metrics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in engaging client stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, work independently, and deliver within timelines
- A proactive, detail-oriented, and client-focused approach
- Graduate in Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience
