About the role
The role sits within Royal Enfield's manufacturing engineering function at the Satyavedu facility, focusing on liquid painting operations for automotive surface finishing. It combines paint shop process engineering, robotic painting and PLC optimization, and environmental sustainability through VOC and energy reduction. The incumbent will drive FTT improvement, PPAP validations, AutoCAD layout design, and capacity expansion projects across the paint shop.
What you will do
- Robotic & PLC Optimization: Program and troubleshoot paint application robots and PLC systems to eliminate operational errors, enhance surface appearance, and optimize maintenance routines.
- Process Quality & PPAP: Lead First Time Through (FTT) and OK rate improvement initiatives, resolve paint defects, and execute Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) validation for applicable painted parts.
- Layout Design & CAD Engineering: Leverage AutoCAD to design paint shop layouts, plan process flow expansions, and optimize equipment placement for new project integrations.
- Sustainability & VOC Reduction: Implement energy conservation projects, integrate green energy concepts, and drive VOC emission reduction programs within the liquid painting facility.
- Cost & Capacity Engineering: Execute cost optimization, paint consumption control, cycle time reduction, and shop-floor safety improvements to maximize overall paint shop capacity.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Surface Coating Technology, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Experience: 5+ years of direct manufacturing engineering or project execution experience within an automotive liquid paint shop (OEM or Tier-1 automotive plastics/metallic coating facility).
- Core Competencies: Paint robot programming, PLC logic modification, PPAP execution, FTT optimization, VOC reduction, and CAD layout drafting.
