About the role
IBM Consulting helps clients shape hybrid cloud and AI journeys, drawing on IBM technology, strategic partners, and Red Hat. The Application Developer role focuses on AWS cloud migration, using migration and modernization tools to design delivery engagements, refactor application code, and create microservices, APIs, and containerized workloads.
What you will do
- Design Migration Engagements: Design and build migration delivery engagements through the installation, configuration, and optimization of various migration and modernization tools as per engagement requirements.
- Assess and Refactor Code: Apply knowledge of migration and modernization assessment and design to refactor application code, including semantic and syntactical changes, to ensure optimal performance on the target cloud platform.
- Create Microservices: Utilize expertise in creating microservices, APIs, and converting workloads into containers to drive the successful migration of applications to the cloud.
- Optimize Application Performance: Apply advanced knowledge of application code refactoring, including optimization and performance parameters, to ensure high-performing applications on the cloud platform.
- Collaborate with Tools: Work with various AWS tools, including AWS Beanstalk, AWS Cloud9, AWS CodeStar, and AWS Command Line Interface, to support cloud migration efforts.
- Cloud Migration Assessment: Experience working with migration and modernization assessment and design, with a focus on target cloud platforms.
- Microservice Development: Experience working with creating microservices, APIs, and converting workloads into containers for cloud migration.
- Cloud-Native Application Design: Experience working with designing cloud-native applications, including creating microservices and converting workloads into containers, is advantageous.
