About the role

American Express’ Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) team leads the enterprise-wide Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions, and Anti-Corruption compliance functions, identifying, investigating, and reporting suspicious activity as part of the broader Global Risk & Compliance organization. The GFCC Program Oversight and Risk Management team drives program monitoring, governance, reporting, and risk assessment, including the centralized customer risk rating and money laundering risk assessment processes. This role owns the configuration and management of the India Customer Risk Rating model in Jocata, validating scoring logic, analyzing large data sets, and coordinating changes with business, compliance, and technology partners.

What you will do

  • Own configuration and management of the India Customer Risk Rating (CRR) model in Jocata, which risk rates every customer for anti-money laundering risk.
  • Ensure India CRR configuration remains consistent with enterprise wide CRR methodology while enabling India specific customizations where required.
  • Collaborate with Line of Business and Market Compliance Officers (MCOs) to identify changes to the CRR to risk rate customers.
  • Lead annual India CRR Certification to ensure configuration is in alignment with the regulatory requirements.
  • Being the point of contact with Jocata and MCOs on India side changes.
  • Escalate and track any delays, defects, or configurations gaps on Jocata grid, working with product team and internal technology as needed.
  • Own and maintain the backlog of requirements and enhancements that fall outside the day 0 build, working with product and Jocata teams to confirm scope and priority.
  • Assess the impact of each post go live change and validate results before production release.
  • Maintain working knowledge of how the platform’s data sets and lookups are structured, to give informed input to Jocata.
  • Execute simulation runs in sandbox environments to test scoring logic and validate results before production implementation.
  • Analyze large sets of data to validate results and identify drivers of customer risk.
  • Document and communicate results and observations to stakeholders.
  • Prepare documentation when the changes are implemented to production.
  • Provide support to stakeholders and business partners.

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and perform data manipulation tasks.
  • Professional certification (e.g. Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)) a plus.
  • Previous experience in AML compliance, financial crimes investigation, or related roles within the financial services industry.
