About the role

This role sits within Honeywell's Process Automation (PA / HPS) project engineering organization, which delivers system-level offerings such as Experion PKS, cabinets, control platforms, networking, I/O and RTU hardware. The position owns end-to-end Value Engineering and Component Engineering projects across the PA portfolio, driving architecture, design and supplier changes to reduce cost while protecting compliance, safety and customer commitments. The engineer acts as a technical authority, working with Engineering, ISC, Manufacturing and suppliers on VE/CE charters, business cases, qualification and governance reporting.

What you will do

  • Lead VE/CE projects for PA system‑level offerings (Experion PKS, cabinets, control platforms, networking, I/O, RTU and related system hardware) from project engineering side.
  • Identify cost‑out opportunities across:
  • System architecture
  • Cabinets and enclosure platforms
  • Electrical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies
  • Third‑party hardware and supplier components
  • Develop and execute VE/CE project charters including scope, baseline cost, savings potential, risks, and mitigation.
  • Drive projects through ideation → feasibility → implementation → validation → closure.
  • Analyze PA system designs, block diagrams, BOMs, and drawings to identify:
  • Redundancy reduction
  • Design simplification
  • Standardization and reuse
  • Make‑vs‑Buy opportunities
  • Support architecture evolution initiatives (e.g., platform consolidation, modular designs, common sub‑systems).
  • Ensure VE/CE changes comply with PA system requirements, safety standards, certifications (IECEx, ATEX, CSA, UL), and customer specs.
  • Partner with:
  • Project Engineering & Proposal teams during execution and bid support
  • Manufacturing sites (e.g., cabinet factories, PA assembly sites)
  • ISC / Sourcing on supplier changes, negotiations, and dual sourcing
  • Quality & Certification teams for impact assessment
  • Support BAE / VECE ideation workshops and factory productivity initiatives.
  • Deliver quantified savings aligned with PA VE/CE productivity goals (DM and Non‑DM) for project engineering side.
  • Identify new opportunities and new policy identification for Pre and post award stages.
  • Build business cases including NRE, ROI, payback, and risk assessment.
  • Track and report projects in approved VECE tools and governance mechanisms.
  • Support AOP, STRAP, and pipeline planning for PA VE/CE initiatives.
  • Prepare and present VE/CE proposals at system, GBE, or COE reviews.
  • Maintain required technical documentation:
  • Design changes
  • Cost analyses
  • Supplier comparisons
  • Risk and compliance assessments
  • Support audits, lessons learned, and best‑practice standardization
