About the role
Zeta is a payments company built under the Directi umbrella, offering snappy payments, meal vouchers, online payments with virtual and physical MasterCards, and a Cloud Card loyalty programme. This role sits in the risk function of the business unit serving US banking and payments. The analyst will investigate suspicious activity across debit card transactions, account opening, ACH transfers and other money movement, and use those findings to build and tune fraud detection rules and controls.
What you will do
- Monitor and investigate suspicious activity across debit card transactions, account opening, ACH transfers, and other money movement activities.
- Investigate first-party fraud, third-party fraud, account takeover, identity fraud, unauthorized transactions, scams, and suspicious movement of funds.
- Identify friendly fraud, first-party misuse, and dispute abuse, including potentially fraudulent claims of unauthorized transactions, transaction disputes, and chargebacks.
- Analyze transaction data, customer behavior, device intelligence, account relationships, and historical fraud patterns to identify anomalies and emerging threats.
- Use investigation outcomes and transaction data to develop new fraud detection rules, improve existing rules, and retire redundant or ineffective rules.
- Continuously evaluate fraud controls to improve detection rates, reduce fraud losses, and minimize false positives and unnecessary declines of legitimate transactions.
- Track key fraud metrics, including fraud losses, dispute and chargeback trends, detection effectiveness, false positives, and investigation turnaround times.
- Conduct root-cause analysis of fraud incidents and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, and banking partners to strengthen preventive controls.
- Maintain clear investigation records, supporting evidence, case outcomes, and escalation documentation.
