About the role
The Unified User Experience Engineering (UXE) team at Motorola Solutions develops and advances technology to ensure 3GPP standard compliance for Motorola's Unified Communication product suite, building software tools that facilitate integration of 3GPP-defined Mission Critical Services (MCPTT, MCData, MCVideo, and Common Services such as ID, Group/Config Management and Location Services) for partners and customers worldwide. This software engineering role focuses on developer experience tooling, rapid proof-of-concept prototyping, and automation of manual engineering workflows. The engineer will work with C/C++, Python and full-stack web technologies, using AI-assisted development tools, to build internal tools, utilities and test frameworks for Development and Test teams.
What you will do
- Developer Experience (DevEx / DX) Engineering: Architect, design, and build custom internal software tools to streamline workflows for internal Development and Test teams.
- Rapid Feature Prototyping: Perform fast proof-of-concept (PoC) development and prototyping to evaluate new feature requirements on existing products.
- Process Automation: Identify inefficiencies in manual engineering workflows and implement automated tool solutions.
- Tool Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust internal software tools, utilities, and test frameworks to support internal Development and Testing teams.
- Prototyping & Feasibility Studies: Perform rapid prototyping and PoC development for new feature requirements integrated into existing core products.
- Workflow Automation: Identify gaps in existing manual development/testing workflows and design automated tooling to optimize team efficiency.
- Clean Code & Architecture: Write high-quality, clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to modern engineering standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with developers, testers, and product teams to translate engineering needs into clear software requirements and deliverables.
- Debugging & Problem Solving: Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects across internal applications and workflows.
- Code Reviews & Quality: Participate in team code reviews, uphold quality standards, and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing repositories.
- Modern Tooling & AI Adoption: Utilize modern software development methodologies and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to speed up iteration and prototyping velocity.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-5yrs of software development experience in the IT industry.
- Strong coding proficiency in C/C++, alongside familiarity with secondary languages like Python, Node.js, or C#.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
- Practical experience in full-stack development, including core web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and building/integrating RESTful APIs
- Working knowledge of Git workflows, Docker containerization, cloud/CI-CD basics, and automated testing/debugging tools
- Hands-on experience with AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Claude, Cursor) for quick prototyping and rapid iteration.
- Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills, proactive troubleshooting, effective communication, and the ability to work independently.
