About the role
GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions business provides equipment, systems, and services for power grids, and its HVDC Valve Engineering team develops valve designs for high-voltage direct current transmission. The team focuses on robust, reliable, efficient, safe, and cost-effective electro-mechanical valve systems from concept through testing, manufacturing, and installation. This senior role provides technical design authority, supports testing and standards compliance, and mentors engineers across global cross-functional teams.
What you will do
- Serve as a designated technical authority and approver for critical design reviews, risk assessments, and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Collaborate cross-functionally across the business to ensure GE Vernova delivers the most robust, reliable, efficient, safe, and cost-effective valve designs to the market.
- Act as the primary technical anchor for critical decision-making regarding complex electro-mechanical interactions within HVDC valve systems.
- Ensure the highest levels of safety are integrated into testing, manufacturing, and installation procedures, reflecting these rigorous standards within all technical documentation.
- Provide vital support during the testing lifecycle, including the review of Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), evaluation of test circuit designs/setups, and hands-on physical presence during critical testing phases.
- Author, review, and approve high-quality technical documentation, product specifications, and engineering reports.
- Ensure all internal documentation and designs strictly comply with relevant international standards; act proactively within industry forums and committees to shape the codes and standards of the future.
- Translate and communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders, executive leadership, and external customers.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, proactively developing technical competencies, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and sharing best practices across the team.

- Comprehensive end-to-end understanding of the elements associated with the design, manufacturing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site installation of HVDC Valves.
- Demonstrated track record of technical leadership, successfully guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams on a global scale.
- Ability to thrive, collaborate, and lead effectively within diverse, multi-cultural global environments.
- Strong drive to acquire new skills, solve complex multi-domain engineering problems, and foster a collaborative knowledge-sharing culture.
- Agility to work quickly, efficiently, and decisively within a fast-paced engineering organization.
