About the role

GE Vernova's Customer Engineering organization provides mechanical loads analysis (MLA) for wind turbine products, bridging engineering, commercial strategy, and external certification partners. The team defines analytical methodologies and best practices aligned with global standards such as IEC, DiBT, and METI across the product line. This Lead Mechanical Loads Analysis (LPB1) role serves as technical authority for a designated business segment, owning suitability conclusions, external certification engagement, process standardization, and mentorship of PB-level and LPB2 engineers.

What you will do

  • Suitability Leadership: Oversee the technical delivery of suitability conclusions, managing deep technical discussions regarding load limitations, root causes, and risk mitigations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Methodological Oversight: Define and oversee the integration of new models, tools, and methods into the business-wide MLA process. Ensure all analytical approaches satisfy global standards (IEC, DiBT, METI).
  • Standardization: Drive the simplification and standardization of best practices in engineering analysis, validation, and design execution to ensure consistent performance across the product line.
  • External Representation: Serve as the primary technical liaison for external certification bodies and Independent Engineers (IE). Address complex inquiries regarding MLA methodology and defend technical conclusions with data-backed rigor.
  • Commercial Alignment: Apply commercial logic to technical proposals. Collaborate with Sales, Commercial Ops, and Product Line teams to align MLA outputs with project economics, such as Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and life extension operations.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with NPI (New Product Introduction) and R&D teams to advance technical capabilities and implement design-to-field feedback loops.
  • Risk Management: Lead the resolution of high-impact technical issues. Provide final-level review of technical documentation to ensure compliance with quality and safety protocols before final release.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion "Boundaryless" engagement to identify gaps in existing MLA workflows; lead the development of enterprise-wide initiatives to improve throughput and analytical precision.
  • Technical Coaching: Provide expert-level coaching and mentorship to PB-level and LPB2 engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence and rigorous peer review across the team.
  • Communication Strategy: Translate complex technical findings into actionable business insights for senior leadership.

  • Significant, demonstrated experience in Loads Assessment or wind-related engineering and technology.
  • Proven record of managing complex technical projects and engaging with external stakeholders/certification bodies.

Preferred qualifications

  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to break down complex issues, determine multiple courses of action, and enable effective, data-driven decision-making.
  • Systems Thinker: Product-level mindset with a deep understanding of how turbine control strategies and wind conditions impact mechanical loading.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence project outcomes.
  • Leadership: Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a proven track record of mentoring and fostering team growth.
  • Self-Motivated: Proactive in advancing internal initiatives and driving standardization across the business.
