About the role
GE Vernova's Disciplinary Engineering and Science; LPB team is responsible for electrical design of LV/MV product portfolios, including component selection, drive sizing and filter design. The role covers LV/MV hardware drive engineering in core electrical and power electronics AC/DC systems, with work on design documents, simulations, prototype verification and factory acceptance testing. The Lead Electrical Engineer will also support manufacturing, lead alternate component selection and localization, and coordinate continuously with system engineers and program/product/project managers.
What you will do
- LV/MV Hardware Drive Engineering – Core Electrical & Power Electronics (AC/ DC systems)
- Drive & Filter Sizing, Product hardware design / loss budget calculation / Earth & Protection circuits /Arc Flash Calculation/ RCA.
- Understand product / project specifications and realize requirements to design using calculations, modeling and simulations.
- Design system/equipment to meet reliability, testing standards, manufacturability, material and cost guidelines
- Prepare & validate Design documents - Configurations, principles of operation, application guidelines, specifications, GA, BOM, SLD & Schematics drawings as per requirement.
- Verify functional performance of prototype hardware under all specified operating conditions.
- Support Manufacturing for component installation, wire harness, cables routing and maintain clarence and creepages at Factory / Vendor facility.
- Taking a lead for alternate component selection, validation and localization/testing.
- Document functional test requirements and conduct test according to applicable standards (UL/IEC etc.…) /conduct project FAT’s.
- Coordinate with System Engineer and Program / Product / Project manager execution on a continuous basis.
- May require travel as required.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor or master's degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
- Min. 10+ years of Electrical design for Industrial drives / Control Panels like PCC, MCC, Switchboards, PLC Panels etc.,
- Preferred experience/knowledge in Electrical design / Simulation tools like AUTOCAD / E-Plan, ETAP and MATLAB
- In-depth knowledge of Motors /Drive control Systems.
