About the role
GE Gas Power Controls designs and implements control solutions that support the energy transformation, including carbon capture, decarbonization, fast power and grid reconstruction and stabilization, working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment with over five hundred global engineers. The team delivers control solutions across the full life cycle from concept development through detailed design, implementation and upgrades. This role leads the team building and selling Operator Training Simulators (OTS) for Gas Power customers, guiding simulator hardware/software platform development, driving new features and Lean-based project execution, and supporting customer site acceptance testing.
What you will do
- Lead the team that builds and sells Operator Training Simulators (OTS) for sale to our Gas Power customers.
- Drive strategy and process that enhances project execution that meets and exceeds customers’ expectations.
- Guide the development of hardware/software platforms for simulator delivery.
- Identify and prioritize new features for the OTS product.
- Partner with Product Management and Requisition leadership to develop new features for OTS.
- Drive Lean thinking to provide high fidelity, easy to use OTS capability for a broad range of Gas Power customers.
- Guide the development of standard work to enable delivery of high-quality OTS.
- Identify and drive OTS improvements and new features back into simulation and modeling standards.
- Develop inquiry to order and marketing strategies to improve product sales.
- Develop an OTS service business model to capture more revenue from existing customers.
- Develop metrics to track OTD of projects.
- Support/Lead customer training simulator site acceptance testing at customer facility.
- Support Resolution of OTS PAC cases.
- Site travel to support sales, installation and upgrades. Less than 10% of year.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Master of Science (MS) in Engineering, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering.
- Working knowledge of ITO and OTR processes associated with Operator Training Simulators.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in: Power Plant Operations, System Design, Operability, Performance Engineering, Simulation/Modeling or Controls Engineering of any the following Combined Cycle Power Plant or Carbon Capture Plant Components, in any combination.
- Familiarity with gas turbine, steam turbine, and power plant systems.
- Good understanding of power plant operations and controls.
- Experience with transient simulation and simulation software packages such as Easy5, Simulink, Modelon FORTRAN, C/C++, Python Scripting and/or Java scripting programming languages.
- Strong thermodynamics engineering background
