About the role

The Disciplinary Engineering and Science team at GE Vernova's Bangalore (JFWTC) and Schenectady sites supports Wind Turbine products through materials engineering and nondestructive testing and evaluation technologies. The work covers NDT specifications, codes and standards compliance, supplier and service provider procedure reviews, field inspection process development, and investment in new technology. This Senior Materials Engineer role owns NDT specifications and methods, evaluates automatic and AI systems for NDT, and supports service and RCA projects with field inspection procedures and validation.

What you will do

  • Maintain material and special process specifications for nondestructive test methods and procedures.
  • Work with suppliers to interpret specifications/standards and optimize production methods/techniques.
  • Evaluate the use of automatic and AI systems for NDT
  • Review supplier and service provider NDT procedures and techniques to ensure compliance with codes, standards and specifications.
  • Service and RCA projects support – NDT process development for field inspection and validation. Interface with services teams and 3rd parties to develop field procedures and review results.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and standard work.
  • Identify technology development opportunities for growth and investment.

What the employer is looking for

  • For roles outside of the USA- Significant experience in NDT methods including UT, Eddy Current, MPI, phased array. Demonstrated proficiency in advanced techniques.
  • For roles in USA - Master's degree from an accredited university or college or at least 20 years of experience in these methods.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 30% or more as needed domestic and global.

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Welding experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and document programs / projects.
  • Experience working with suppliers and equipment manufacturers.
