About the role

GE Vernova's Design Engineering / SPB organization delivers boiler and thermal power plant service, retrofit, renovation and modernization (R&M), and new product introduction (NPI) programs for global customers. The role covers process engineering for thermal systems, including boiler performance, steam-water cycle integration, and inquiry-to-order (ITO) application engineering. The Senior Engineer – Process Engineering independently owns process engineering scope, prepares and reviews deliverables such as process calculations, PFDs, P&IDs and operating philosophies, leads customer technical discussions, and works with global engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders through execution and product implementation.

What you will do

  • Independently execute and own assigned process engineering scope related to boiler performance, thermal system analysis, and steam-water cycle integration for service, retrofit, renovation and modernization (R&M), and new product introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as process calculations, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, process descriptions, operating philosophies, performance evaluations, and related technical documentation.
  • Analyze customer enquiries, tender documents, operating data, and technical specifications to define technically compliant, competitive, and executable application engineering solutions within assigned scope.
  • Develop and Review customer application engineering activities, including preparation of technical inputs for bids and proposals, compliance matrices, customer submittals, process schemes, technical deviations, assumptions, scope clarifications, and feasibility evaluations.
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders to explain proposed solutions, engineering assumptions, and application feasibility.
  • Contribute to opportunity assessment for boiler upgrade and retrofit packages, including emissions-related modifications and performance improvement solutions.
  • Coordinate with commercial, sourcing, execution, controls and instrumentation, mechanical, and project engineering teams to develop optimized technical solutions and ensure alignment of scope, assumptions, interfaces, and deliverables.
  • Identify, assess, document, and support mitigation of technical deviations, assumptions, risks, and opportunities during application engineering, project execution, and product implementation phases.
  • Work closely with global engineering teams, regional stakeholders, and subject matter experts to align technical solutions with customer requirements, fleet needs, business objectives, and implementation constraints.
  • Drive technical risk assessment reviews with global teams and subject matter experts to identify design, performance, operability, reliability, maintainability, and execution risks associated with proposed boiler solutions.
  • Take ownership of assigned ITO activities through project handover.
  • Ensure high-quality and consistent engineering output related to performance calculations, thermal assessments, design reviews, optimization studies, and technical evaluations.
  • Support NPI activities through evaluation of new or modified process concepts, product features, design changes, engineering validation requirements, and implementation considerations.
  • Contribute to technical excellence through participation in design reviews, technical reviews, constructability reviews, lessons learned implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and review support to less experienced engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and capability building across the team.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with applicable standards, customer requirements, product requirements, and business processes, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
  • Contribute to functional initiatives and metrics related to Life Saving Rules, Product Safety embedded in design, On-Time Delivery, Right First Time, Kaizen, productivity, cost-out, quality, and Lean Six Sigma.
