About the role

GE Aerospace's John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is a multidisciplinary research and engineering center whose engineers and scientists have contributed to aviation patents and breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing. The role focuses on inspection technology, signal analytics, sensor systems, and system integration for end-to-end inspection solutions. The engineer will lead architecture and integration of inspection systems, develop signal-processing and inverse-problem algorithms, and drive sensor miniaturization, testing, validation, and cross-functional collaboration.

What you will do

  • Lead the architecture, design, and integration of end-to-end inspection systems, including sensors, electronics, data acquisition, and analytics.
  • Translate inspection requirements and performance targets into system specifications and test plans.
  • Own system-level trade-off decisions across hardware, software, and inspection performance.
  • Develop and implement signal analytics methods for processing, denoising, and interpreting inspection data.
  • Formulate and solve inverse problems to infer material states, defects, or geometry from measured signals.
  • Drive implementation of advanced algorithms (e.g., optimization, reconstruction, classification) to improve detection and characterization.
  • Lead efforts in sensor selection, design, and miniaturization for embedded, portable, or integrated inspection solutions.
  • Evaluate and optimize sensor performance, robustness, and reliability in realistic operating environments.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to integrate miniaturized sensors into inspection platforms.
  • Provide technical leadership on inspection technology, signal analytics, and system integration topics.
  • Review designs, algorithms, and test results to ensure technical rigor and alignment with project objectives.
  • Plan and lead system-level tests, pilots, and validation activities in lab and field environments.
  • Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement in sensitivity, robustness, and usability.
  • Document system behavior, limitations, and lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, operations, quality, and product management teams to ensure inspection solutions meet business and customer needs.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to roadmaps, proposals, and strategy for inspection technologies and related products.

Skills used in this role

What the employer is looking for

  • Should have experience in inspection or medical imaging technology, sensor systems.
  • 2-3 years of industry experience in inspection or medical imaging technology, sensor systems, signal analytics, or closely related areas.
  • Proven track record building complete systems (from concept to deployment) that integrate sensors, data acquisition, and signal processing.

Preferred qualifications

  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively
  • Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed
  • Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative
  • Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker.
