About the role
The John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is GE Aerospace's multidisciplinary research and engineering center, where engineers and scientists have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents and breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing. This role sits in combustor aero design, applying high-fidelity 3D CFD to LNG-fueled aero-derivative gas turbine combustors for land-based power generation, covering airflow, fuel injection, reacting flow, combustion dynamics, and emissions. The engineer will lead design and analysis work with a multi-site global team, validate test results with CFD, and support entry into service of improved designs.
What you will do
- Perform 3D CFD (RANS & LES) modelling of LNG fueled gas turbine combustors for land-based power generation applications involving airflow, fuel injection and reacting flow, combustion dynamics and emissions modelling, etc, to evaluate/propose new designs and understand impact on CTQs like fuel air mixing, emissions, combustion dynamics, durability, etc in order to support product improvements and entry into service.
- Lead & demonstrate engineering problem solving and decision making through active program execution, planning, communication with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Release down-selected designs or solution strategies for rig and engine testing, by going through proper review processes.
- Work with team members of varied experience: provide guidance to less experienced team members, and take help from more experienced members as required.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy. Strive for continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
- Use engineering judgment and show ability to propose solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Use prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Demonstrate technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Skills used in this role
