About the role
GE HealthCare is hiring for its software engineering organization responsible for designing, building, delivering and maintaining software applications and services across machine, cloud, platform and application areas. The role is a Senior AEM Developer position focused on building high-performing digital experiences on Adobe Experience Manager, including AEM as a Cloud Service and Edge Delivery Services (EDS), while bringing AI-driven capabilities into content and development workflows. The engineer will work with architects, designers, content authors and product teams to deliver fast, scalable and secure web experiences.
What you will do
- Design, develop and maintain websites and components on AEM as a Cloud Service (Sites and Assets).
- Build and optimise sites on AEM Edge Delivery Services, including blocks written in vanilla JavaScript, CSS and HTML, document-based authoring (SharePoint/Google Drive) and Universal Editor.
- Develop custom AEM components, templates, Sling Models, OSGi services and workflows.
- Integrate AI capabilities into AEM solutions, for example: generative content with AEM GenAI featuressmart tagging and metadatapersonalisationLLM-based APIs for content creation, search or summarisation
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality, such as GitHub Copilot and Claude.
- Optimise site performance and Core Web Vitals, targeting near-perfect Lighthouse scores on EDS projects.
- Integrate AEM with other Adobe Experience Cloud products (Target, Analytics, Adobe Experience Platform) and third-party systems through REST APIs and headless/GraphQL delivery.
- Take part in code reviews, technical design discussions and Agile ceremonies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and support CI/CD pipelines in Cloud Manager.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to development standards and best practices.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 5–6 years of software development experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on AEM development.
- Strong knowledge of AEM architecture: Sling, JCR, OSGi, the Dispatcher, and Core Components.
- Hands-on experience with AEM Edge Delivery Services (aem.live / Franklin / Helix), including block development and document-based authoring.
- Strong front-end skills in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS3, plus responsive design and web accessibility (WCAG).
- Proficiency in Java and Maven-based AEM project structure.
- Experience with headless AEM: Content Fragments and the GraphQL APIs.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and practical experience integrating AI services or LLM APIs, such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic or Adobe Firefly/Sensei.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Adobe Cloud Manager.
- Solid understanding of web performance optimisation and SEO best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ownership mindset and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Keeps up with Adobe product updates and new AI trends.
Preferred qualifications
- Adobe Certified Expert or Professional in AEM Sites Developer.
- Experience with AEM Sites Optimizer, Adobe Target or Adobe Analytics.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or AI-powered search.
- Experience with a modern JavaScript framework (React or Next.js) for headless implementations.
- Experience in regulated industries, such as healthcare or life sciences.
