This Senior Legal Counsel role sits at the intersection of a highly regulated medtech industry, a complex ownership structure and a fast-evolving Indian healthcare policy landscape. The role leads legal support across commercial, disputes and investigations, governance and joint venture matters, regulatory counsel and stakeholder management, and builds and mentors the India legal team.

What you will do

  • Commercial: Lead legal support for sales, government tenders, service agreements and channel partner arrangements across all business units; support manufacturing and localisation contracts.
  • Disputes & Investigations: Own the litigation and arbitration portfolio, panel counsel and spend; lead internal investigations and regulatory inquiries with global Compliance.
  • Governance & JV: Advise Indian entity boards under the Companies Act; serve as legal lead on governance and inter-company arrangements; oversee entity compliance.
  • Regulatory: Provide authoritative counsel on medical device, pharma diagnostics, AERB, competition, data protection, FEMA, trade, labour and CSR law; anchor the anti-bribery and HCP compliance programme in India.
  • Stakeholders: Act as trusted advisor to India leadership; manage regulators, industry bodies, the JV partner and external counsel;
  • Leadership: Build and mentor the legal team.

What the employer is looking for

  • LL.B. (LL.M. advantageous); enrolled with a State Bar Council.
  • 18+ years' post-qualification experience across inhouse legal department of a large multinational and leading law firm.
  • Proven track record in complex commercial contracting, high-value disputes and board-level governance advice.
  • Deep command of Indian business and regulatory law; medtech, pharma or regulated-industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in matrixed global organisations and advising joint ventures; prior team and budget leadership.
