About the role

The Associate Director - Account Management sits within Dentsu X in Mumbai, leading strategic client relationships and driving digital-first media thinking across integrated media solutions. The role owns client leadership, digital media strategy and planning, performance management and analytics, account growth, and team leadership, working across Search, Social, Display, Video, Programmatic and Commerce Media. It serves as the senior client partner ensuring media recommendations deliver measurable business impact.

What you will do

  • Act as the senior client partner and primary point of contact for assigned accounts, building trusted, long-term relationships.
  • Understand client business objectives, category dynamics, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscape to translate briefs into effective media strategies.
  • Lead strategic conversations with clients and proactively bring insights, opportunities, and recommendations to the table.
  • Develop and present annual media strategies, integrated plans, QBRs, WIPs, performance reviews, and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure media recommendations are aligned with brand objectives as well as measurable business outcomes.
  • Lead the development and execution of digital-first media strategies and plans, with 90%+ digital focus.
  • Oversee planning across Search, Social, Display, Video, Programmatic, E-commerce/Commerce Media, Influencer, and emerging digital platforms.
  • Partner with performance, biddable, programmatic, ad operations, and planning teams to ensure effective campaign implementation.
  • Ensure media plans are informed by audience insights, platform intelligence, historical performance, category benchmarks, competitive activity, and consumer trends.
  • Drive effective channel roles, audience strategies, investment allocation, and media phasing across campaigns.
  • Own the overall performance narrative across campaigns, including pacing, delivery, reach, engagement, conversions, efficiency, and other agreed KPIs.
  • Work closely with analytics and performance teams to identify optimisation opportunities and translate data into actionable business insights.

  • Evaluate platform and campaign trends to support budget reallocation and ongoing optimisation.
  • Connect media metrics with broader brand and business outcomes wherever measurement frameworks allow.

  • Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts through cross-selling and upselling across areas such as commerce media, influencer, programmatic, data/analytics, technology, and creative solutions.
  • Develop proactive proposals and strategic solutions in response to evolving client needs.
  • Contribute to account planning, revenue growth, retention, and overall commercial performance.
  • Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders and identify opportunities for deeper agency engagement.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop account management and planning teams, providing clarity on priorities, ownership, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Foster a collaborative culture across account management, media planning, performance, programmatic, analytics, creative, production, and technology teams.
  • Drive operational excellence across the complete campaign lifecycle — from briefing and planning through approvals, execution, reporting, and optimisation.
  • Ensure teams are proactive, accountable, and solution-oriented in their approach to client servicing.
  • Support capability development and knowledge sharing across the wider team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key platforms, publishers, technology partners, and ad-tech ecosystems.
  • Stay current on developments across Google, Meta, Amazon, DV360, programmatic, commerce media, measurement, mar-tech, and emerging digital platforms.
  • Leverage platform insights, beta opportunities, innovation programs, and partner capabilities to create differentiated solutions for clients.
  • Represent the agency at relevant industry forums, partner events, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
