About the role
State Street Markets Technology delivers technology for the Prime Services, Equity Swaps, and Secured Financing businesses, and the firm's Global Technology Services function acts as the key enabler for delivering data and insights to institutional investor clients. The team is driving digital transformation across markets platforms using cloud, artificial intelligence, and robotics process automation. This Managing Director role owns end-to-end technology delivery for these businesses from India, leading globally distributed employee and vendor engineering teams through platform modernization, automation, resilience, and risk and controls agendas.
What you will do
- Own end-to-end technology delivery across Prime Services, Equity Swaps, and Secured Financing, including architecture, engineering, testing, release management, and production support.
- Deliver predictable, high-quality outcomes aligned with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and client commitments.
- Scale technology capabilities supporting the growth of the Equity Swaps business across global markets.
- Lead strategic modernization initiatives, including platform transformation, application rationalization, and legacy technology retirement.
- Drive front-to-back automation across Prime Services workflows, including corporate actions, claims, recalls, and billing processes.
- Enhance platform resilience, security, and operational stability through cloud adoption, application modernization, technology controls, and remediation programs.
- Expand technology capabilities supporting Secured Financing products, including intraday repo, agency repo, and unsecured bond borrow offerings.
- Serve as the senior delivery executive for India-based engineering teams supporting Prime Services, Equity Swaps, and Secured Financing.
- Drive organizational scale, productivity, and delivery excellence across globally distributed teams.
- Establish and evolve a high-performance operating model with clear accountability, governance, execution discipline, and workforce optimization.
- Lead effective collaboration across global technology, business, and operations organizations to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
- Define and execute the technology modernization roadmap aligned to business growth and strategic priorities.
- Accelerate adoption of cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, event-driven platforms, and engineering best practices.
- Drive engineering excellence through automation, DevOps, CI/CD, quality engineering, and site reliability practices.
- Champion the responsible adoption of AI-enabled engineering capabilities to improve productivity, quality, and delivery velocity.
- Establish robust governance frameworks covering delivery health, operational performance, risk management, and service quality.
- Ensure proactive identification and mitigation of execution, technology, cyber, and operational risks.
- Strengthen controls and resiliency aligned with enterprise risk management and regulatory expectations.
- Drive operational excellence through disciplined metrics, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to senior leaders across business, operations, technology, and risk functions.

Skills used in this role

- 20+ years of progressive experience leading technology delivery and large-scale engineering organizations within financial services or complex global enterprises.
- Proven track record of delivering large transformation programs and managing complex technology portfolios.
- Deep knowledge of Capital Markets, Prime Brokerage, Securities Finance, or related Markets businesses.
- Strong engineering background with experience in modern technology architectures, including cloud platforms, microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Demonstrated success leading global teams across multiple locations, including employee and vendor organizations.
- Strong execution discipline with expertise in delivery management, software engineering, production stability, and operational excellence.
- Deep understanding of risk management, technology controls, cyber security, resilience, and regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and executive leadership skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders globally.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience leading technology organizations supporting Prime Brokerage, Securities Finance, Secured Financing, Equity Swaps, or broader Markets businesses.
- Experience driving cloud transformation, platform modernization, and enterprise-scale engineering transformations.
- Knowledge of AI-enabled software engineering, intelligent automation, and emerging productivity technologies.
- Strong expertise in Agile, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and engineering maturity models.
- Architecture-level understanding of enterprise data platforms, analytics ecosystems, and front-to-back financial services technology architectures.
